Solace

An exploration into the feeling or Solace through a Black British Lens:

A recognition of my blackness and a recognition of yours.

Finding solace in a gesture, in a look, in a glance.

From community to solitude, a hidden kind of gathering,

A feeling.

Lying in a shared sense of solitude,

A precious community, a sacred community, a community well kept.

A recognisable energy,

A shared sense of solace.

A recognisable demeanour,

A silhouette,

Misunderstood,

A discomfort.

Comfort in a shared search for solace,

A journey,

A proud journey.

We choose not to hide our blackness,

A mutual recognition of solace.

A recognition of my blackness and a recognition of yours.
